Training in hypnosis

In many countries there is no regulation which determines who can call themselves a 'hypnotherapist', and many people who practice hypnosis have no prior qualifications in health-care. Professionals (licensed psychologists, doctors, dentists, and other health-care professionals) should first be qualified to treat patients within their own professional boundaries and should then use hypnosis as an adjunct to their professional skill. The training organisations and courses listed here offer professional hypnosis training.

United Kingdom

Hypnosis Unit UK offers training in hypnosis to suitably qualified professionals.

The British Society of Clinical and Academic Hypnosis (BSCAH) is the professional body for hypnosis in the UK.

Hypnosis Training UK provides information about societies, qualifications, and trainers of hypnosis in the UK.

United States

The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH) provides hypnosis training to professionals in the USA.
